RedBook Inspect, a service by Carsales, offers vehicle inspections for individual customers, car dealers, and finance companies. A significant part of their business includes roadworthy inspections for ride-share drivers from services like Uber, Ola, and Didi.

Customers receive an inspection report, making it a vital aspect of the service. My initial project with the RBI team was to design an online dynamic report to replace the traditional PDF report.

The main focus of the report design was to ensure the information is accessible, readable, and fast. During the transition from static PDFs to online web pages, it's tempting to add a lot of interactive features. However, interactivity should only be implemented when necessary. This was my guiding principle when designing the dynamic report.

Modular design

The service offers various types of inspections, each with different sets of information, making the PDF format unsuitable due to its lack of flexibility. The dynamic report uses a modular design, allowing for customized and even personalized reports based on specific requirements.
